NEW YEAR RESOLUTION

A new years resolution is a promise  person makes for the new year. Regardless of what resolution you commit to, the goal is to improve life in the coming year.
Resolutions can come in many forms. Some people make a promise to change a badhabit, such as quitting smoking or eating less junk food. Other people make a promise to develop a positivehabit.
Having new year’s resolution it’s a way of showing that you believe in your self and no one but you can do it. It is a way of working the year in achieving your dreams maybe those which you didn't accomplish in the previous year but not holding to the fact that you didn't accomplish them. Some people they say life is a journey yes we can not argue with that notion but you can not say you are on a journey yet you do not know where you are heading to or the time that you are going to take. Same in this life journey draft your resolutions tally against the time your are going to take to reach to the goal for example by mid march 2019 I want to buy a car.
New year resolutions are there to remind us our purpose here on earth our purpose in accordance to the things that you want as an individual. Here is how you do it :
Start small
Make resolutions that you can keep. For example, if your goal is to exercise more, start by going to the gym 3 days a week (at first).
Write it down
Write your resolutions down in a place where you can remind yourself daily of your intentions.
Make changes to your behavior
Not seeing the results you were hoping for? Try changing up your routine. If you are doing the same thing over and over again and not seeing a change, it’s time to modify your behavior.
Define SMART goals
Use the SMART acronym when you are setting goals: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-specific. If your goal is to lose weight, what specifically are you going to do so that you can measure and track your progress over a specific time frame? Maybe take up walking and eat healthier to lose 10 pounds by June. Setting SMART goals can be the difference between failure and achievement.
Track your progress
Use a calendar or technology to track your goals and progress. Self- monitoring is an important concept in keeping your resolutions, so you can look back and see where you came from and the changes you have made.
Reward small achievements
Whether you are losing weight, or on track to saving more money, it is important to recognize the small accomplishments and do something nice for yourself. This will get you excited about your overall goal and help keep you focused.
Make it public
Let your friends and family know about your resolution and goals. It will help keep you accountable and on track. You are less likely to fail if you have a support system around you.
You are human
It’s ok if you slip up, just make sure you get back on track and keep heading toward your goal. If you see it as a learning experience it well help strengthen you and your resolution and make it that much more fulfilling when you finally reach it

WOUNDED BUT NOT SLAUGHTERED.

There is this other day was called for a birthday celebration and was given an opportunity to give a speech. my favourite line on the speech was "life is like a game you move from one stage/level to the other level all this is because of the skills that you had on countering difficulties of each stage, on the other hand, being able to utilise the time when the game was easy" same as life.
Our heading reads "wounded but not slaughtered", Us as Christians sometimes we have a tendency of marking the end of our lines when faced with problems. Some may even go an extra mile to commit suicide and or join cults for quick riches. Forgetting that there are just wounded not slaughtered, they still have room to fight room, power for pressing on.
If soldiers are on the battlefield, one gets shot on the arm that person doesn't give up coz of the bullet in the arm, he finds a way to cover the wound so as to stop bleeding and continue with the mission to defend the territory.

That same spirit must also be seen in us. No matter how big the situation might look like be it you are broke, you lost your loved ones, you are unemployed you can name all the problems. If you believe in our living God, just stand up and say I'm wounded like that soldier on the battlefield I'm not slaughtered. Pray to him to give you power and strength to keep on soldering ..defend your territory, defend your relationship, defend your blessings that God has given unto you.
let me finish by giving an example of Samson. He was sent to defend the territory of Israelites from Philistines. Samson then fell in love with a beautiful Philistine woman named Delilah. The rulers in Philistine came to Delilah and offered her money if she found out what made Samson so strong.
Delilah asked Samson continually about his strength and bugged him so much that he finally told her the secret to his strength - that he was given his strength at birth by God and that if his hair was cut he would lose his strength. That evening as Samson slept, Delilah cut his hair and called in the Philistines. The Philistine men were able to capture Samson. They barged in, gouged his eyes out and took him to prison in Gaza.
The Philistines brought Samson out before a great crowd of rulers and thousands of people gathered in the temple to celebrate his capture. Samson's hair had begun to grow back and as he leaned against the pillars of the temple, he prayed to God for strength once more to defeat the Philistines. Samson used all of his might and pushed down the temple, killing himself and thousands of Philistines and rulers. God forgave Samson and still accomplished great things through Samson.
Lastly, I say to you the one who is reading be like Samson he was wounded because of Delilah, Samson then managed to talk to God asking for forgiveness, and the power to finish his mission. You know the problems that you are facing now pray to him to give you the power to defend your territory, defend all your  Godly heart desires. for sure I say to you he will hear your voice.

He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him."

Master The Skills Of 4 Qualities Of A Prayerful Person And Be Successful.

Power Of Prayer
The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-18 declares, "…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”

We all know that praying is the form of way of communicating to god pleading for the things we don’t have and giving thanks for what he has done for us.

Jesus taught, "…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20). 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." The Bible urges us, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).

For one's prayer to be powerful there are some principles to which one must adhere to:

  • Must be a patient person

  • Must be a faithful person

  • Must have belief in your own words or in what you do

  • Watchful

Abrahams story will help us to understand how the above-mentioned pillars can make our prayers powerful.

Abraham He was a good, honest man who loved God and prayed to him often. He yearned to hold the priesthood of God and to serve his Heavenly Father. He knew that by serving God—not idols—he would find life’s greatest happiness. Thus, having believe within yourself.

Because of serving God Abraham wanted to be killed, When the priest stood ready to thrust a knife into Abraham’s body, Abraham was filled with the Holy Ghost, and in a vision, he saw God. An angel stood beside him and loosened the heavy bands that bound him to the altar. Abraham was free. thus being watchful, times may come we are faced with a lot of hardships..just be still and know that what God of Abraham did to him the same can happen to you.

In addition, now will be looking at were Abrahams faith and patience paid back. We all know Abraham and Sarah had been married about thirty years but had been unable to have children. Sarah was becoming old and Abraham was worried. The Lord had told him that through his descendants the nations of the earth would be blessed, but without children, he would have no descendants. Abraham prayed about these concerns, and the Lord promised him that he would someday have a son. Abraham did not know how this promise could be fulfilled. He knew it would take a miracle for Sarah to have a baby in her old age, but Abraham had faith.

Many more years passed. Abraham was about one hundred years old and Sarah ninety when the Lord told Abraham the exciting news: Sarah would soon give birth to a son, who should be named Isaac. Abraham was so happy that he bowed his face to the earth and humbly thanked the Lord.

When the baby was born, Sarah rejoiced. After forty years of waiting, she finally had a baby; she knew that his birth was truly a great blessing of the Lord.

NO MATTER WAT KNOCKS YOU DOWN IN LIFE, GET UP, PRAY KEEP GOING
NEVER GIVE UP. GREAT BLESSINGS ARE A RESULT OF GREAT PERSEVERANCE

FASTING

Most of us tend to starve our self’s in the name of fasting …  I’m going to break –down the ice between starving and fasting

1.       WHAT IS FASTING
Willing abstinence or reduction from some or all food and drink for a defined period and defined reason.
Fasting brings us into a closer union with God. While our bodies are being
deprived of earthly needs and wants.
Fasting is a sacred time in which Christians abstain from food or other pleasures, and take the time to focus on God.

2.       STARVING
Cause to suffer from hunger

FASTING
As I have said fasting is all about bringing us into a closer union with God, this can be done through
     PRAYING
Fasting and prayer are often linked together Luke 2:37 5:33, also confessing every one of your sins, and inviting the Holy Spirit to lead your life. Let Jesus know you wish to know Him personally. Acknowledge that He lived without sin, died in our place, on the cross for our sins and rose 3 days later, freeing us from condemnation, and giving us His free gift of eternal life. Humble yourself to ask forgiveness from everyone you have hurt; ask forgiveness from God. Forgive those who have hurt you. You do not want to enter into a fast holding grudge, carrying envy, pride, anger or hurt. The enemy will try to use those things to distract you from your fast.
     READING THE BIBLE

Image result for bible verses about fasting

Worship Him and praise Him for His attributes. Read God’s Word, and meditate that God will lend me His Wisdom so that I can input His Word into my life, and I can gain a fuller understanding of it. Pray for God’s Will to be done, and for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Ask God to lead you in spreading His Glory into the world we live in.

By taking our eyes off the things of this world, we can more successfully turn our attention to Christ. Fasting is not a way to get God to do what we want. Fasting changes us, not God. Fasting is not a way to appear more spiritual than others. Fasting is to be done in a spirit of humility and a joyful attitude.matthew 16-18 declares, “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

                                 Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
